猪八戒

猪八戒 is reread in 43.西游记：咄！你是什么妖精！ against the simple story that he was a heavenly marshal accidentally reborn as a pig. The episode points to his own account of body, memory, and heavenly misconduct to suggest that his pig identity may be older than his face-saving explanation admits.

The source also uses [[XiyouYaowuzhi|《西游妖物志》]] to place 猪八戒 in a longer source history.
