Overview

朱勃 / Zhu Bo enters the wiki as the former Yunyang magistrate who defends 马援 after Ma dies in camp and is accused by 梁松. His importance is not high office but posthumous correction: he asks 光武帝刘秀 to let senior ministers weigh Ma Yuan’s lifetime service, battlefield conditions, epidemic death, and family humiliation before leaving the accusation to define Ma’s name.

Hanji 726 gives Zhu Bo a compact relationship history with Ma Yuan. As a child, Zhu is presented as exceptionally quick with the classics; Ma Yuan once feels inferior after meeting him, while Ma Yuan’s elder brother Ma Kuang predicts Zhu will later still take Ma Yuan as teacher. That prediction is fulfilled socially when Ma Yuan rises to general and marquis while Zhu remains at county level.
