淖齿 / 卓齿 / Zhuo Chi

淖齿 / 卓齿 / Zhuo Chi enters the wiki through 《资治通鉴·周纪》70丨喜欢花样作死的齐国君主 as the 楚国 commander sent toward 齐国 after 乐毅 and the anti-Qi coalition break 齐湣王’s army. The earlier page used 卓齿 from transcript-normalized wording; 《资治通鉴·周纪》73丨历史上自由恋爱的开创者是谁? uses 淖齿, so this page keeps both labels on one entity. The episode first presents him as a rescuer: Qi Min Wang, trapped near Ju after losing 临淄, appoints him as Qi chancellor.

The rescue then reverses. The episode says Zhuo Chi had already moved into a tacit alignment with 燕昭王 or Yan’s side and saw land and plunder as more reliable than Qi Min Wang’s emergency appointment. He arrests Qi Min Wang instead of saving him, turning Chu’s apparent rescue role into a share-in-the-spoils and regicide branch.

Zhuo Chi’s indictment uses a heaven-earth-human pattern. He asks whether Qi Min Wang knows of blood rain, ground collapse and spring water, and crying at the palace gate, then interprets them as warnings from heaven, earth, and people. The source uses that speech to make Qi Min Wang’s death appear as more than private revenge: it becomes a judgment on violent misrule and failure to heed warnings.

The episode still keeps motive mixed. Zhuo Chi may be punishing a tyrant, reacting to Qi Min Wang’s arrogance, seeking spoils, or operating under a broader Yan-Chu understanding. His page should therefore stay tied to 帝王非命死法类型 and 民心型政治安全 rather than flattening him into a pure righteous avenger.

《资治通鉴·周纪》73丨历史上自由恋爱的开创者是谁? gives Zhuo Chi’s own reversal. 王孙古 publicly mobilizes more than four hundred men to avenge Qi Min Wang, attacks Zhuo Chi while he is unprepared, and kills him. The source says the Chu army retreats after losing him, making his death the pivot from Qi Min Wang’s execution toward 齐襄王’s restoration.

《资治通鉴·周纪》89丨秦王竟被他怼“妈宝男”? uses Zhuo Chi retrospectively in 范雎’s speech to 秦昭襄王. The point is not to add new detail to Zhuo Chi’s biography, but to make his seizure of power and killing of 齐湣王 a warning example for Qin’s own four-nobles problem.
