Zhu Yun / 朱云 (Western Han)
Updated · 1 episodes · 1 show · 1 source notes
Overview
Zhu Yun / 朱云 enters the wiki through Hanji 549 as a former Huaili county magistrate whose direct accusation before 汉成帝 becomes the “broken balustrade” remonstrance story. The episode presents him as a small official who turns a moral warning about 鄙夫 into a public demand to punish 张瑜.
Current Profile
Zhu Yun’s profile is currently bounded to the Hanji 549 scene. He asks to appear before Chengdi rather than submit an ordinary written memorial, denounces high ministers for holding position without correcting the ruler or benefiting the people, and requests the imperial shangfang sword to execute one sycophantic minister as a warning.
When Chengdi demands a name, Zhu Yun identifies Zhang Yu, Chengdi’s teacher. Chengdi treats this as intolerable insult to both court officials and his own teacher, orders Zhu Yun seized, and Zhu Yun clings to the palace railing until it breaks. Zhu Yun then compares his death-facing stance to loyal martyrs such as Long Feng and Bigan, forcing Chengdi to face the reputational meaning of killing a blunt speaker.
Zhu Yun survives because 辛庆忌 intercedes, arguing that upright speech should be tolerated whether the content is correct or mistaken. Chengdi later preserves the broken railing, so Zhu Yun functions in this wiki as a Western Han instance of 赴死式直谏 whose moral witness becomes a public memory object.
