祖茂 / Zu Mao (late Han)

祖茂 / Zu Mao enters the wiki through Hanji 955 as 孙坚’s trusted subordinate during the escape after 徐荣 defeats Sun Jian near Liang. The episode says Zu Mao asks to wear Sun Jian’s headgear so pursuers chase the wrong target, allowing Sun Jian to survive.

The source uses Zu Mao to mark the retainer side of Sun Jian’s campaign. Sun Jian’s later recovery at 阳人之战 depends not only on his own command ability but on a close follower who can absorb immediate pursuit risk and preserve the leader’s exit route.
